COMPARISON SYSTEM

NOM BIS

Nomination for BIS (best cat in a category) is awarded to cats in their categories. For example, the MCO is in II category and competes for a nomination against the NFO, RAG, SBI, ACL, SIB, TUV, ACS and TUA, who are also in II category.

This division into categories was presented in the article “EMS codes”, which you will find here.

BIS (Best In Show)

Best cat in a category. BIS winners are chosen from among the cats nominated for BIS within their respective categories in each of the following subcategories:

  •       best kitten (BIS Kitten);
  •       best junior (BIS Junior);
  •       best adult male and best adult female (BIS Adult and BOS Adult respectively);
  •       best adult neuter male and best adult neuter female (BIS Neuter and BOS Neuter respectively);
  •       best veteran male and best veteran female (BIS Veteran and BOS Veteran respectively).

Litters are also evaluated during Best In Show part. The winning litter receives the title of BIS Litter.

The following cats compete against each other during the last stage of a cat show:

In the adult class:

  •       male and female for BIS Adult;
  •       neuter male and neuter female for BIS Neuter;
  •       veteran male and veteran female for BIS Veteran.

In the above pairs, the cat of the opposite sex that has lost the title to the winning cat is awarded the title of BOS (Best Opposite Sex).

BOS (Best Opposite Sex)

Best cat chosen as Best In Show of the opposite sex (e.g. when a male and a female compete together for BIS and the male is awarded BIS, then the female receives BOS).

BIC (Best In Category)

Best cat in a category (cats with BIS titles in their respective categories compete against each other for BIC).

BOB (Best Of Best)

Best of the best (winners from all categories compete against each other for BOB). Only adult cats who have been awarded the title of BIS Adult in his/her category can compete for BOB (kittens, juniors, neuters and veterans do not compete for BOB).

BIV (Best In Variety)

Best cat in a colour group. Separate BIVs may be awarded to cats in each class: kitten, junior and adult. Only cats in the same colour group can compete for this title.
