Feline travel

We travel with our feline friends on different occasions: when moving, going to the vet or simply going on holiday. Regardless of the reason you are travelling with your cat, a safe and possibly stress-free journey should always be your first priority.

Safety above all

Unfortunately, most cats are not particularly keen on travelling by car. Keeping this in mind will help you to plan ahead. First of all, you should remember that when travelling, your cat should not be sitting in you lap or wander around the car freely. Cats should be transported in carriers at all times! A carrier will not only increase your cat’s safety in case of an accident or if you have to brake suddenly but will also make you cat feel safer. The carrier should be secured to the seat (preferably to the back one).

Prepare to stop!

If you are on a long car trip, you will need to stop for short breaks, when your cat can have some water, foodPrepare to stop and use the litter tray. Remember to always keep your cat on a leash when you let him/her out. This way,you will avoid the problem of looking for your cat in unfamiliar surroundings.

Bad traveller

Unfortunately, it may turn out that your kitty is not a happy traveller. Anxiety, sickness and trembling are all things that can happen to your cat on a journey. Before setting off on a trip, consult your vet who will give your cat an appropriate tranquiliser.
