Felinotherapy – working cats

Nowadays, we have been hearing more and more about the healing abilities of cats. Until recently, therapy animals have included mostly dogs (dogotherapy) and horses (hippotherapy). However, experts discovered that cats have a lot to offer in this respect as well.

Felinotherapy is one of the forms of animal-assisted therapy that involves contact between the person receiving treatment and a cat.

Felinotherapy is used in treating the elderly, as well as adults and children with physical and mental disabilities. Being around a cat has a positive effect on patients, raising their spirits, reducing anxiety, helping to overcome barriers and inhibitions in people who are afraid of animals or allergic to cat hair.
